Floor Fan Benefits
As versatile as ceiling fans undoubtedly are, there are certain situations where a ceiling fan simply is not enough for one reason or another. When you have a large volume of air to cool down and circulate, it is very difficult to do so with ceiling fans - even multiple ceiling fans will not be able to move enough air to cool a large warehouse. Just some of the circumstances where ceiling fans may not be able to perform include:
WarehousesIn our experience a ceiling fan, or even a series of ceiling fans working in conjunction with eachother, will not provide enough circulation to move sufficient air and lower the average indoor air temperature. Why is this? The ceiling fans will move the air, but because they are so high up the ground level air will not be affected. Ceilings in warehouses are often 30 - 40 ft high, so even a good installation of high performance ceiling fans won't be able to cool the air at ground level. There are possible solutions for this:
FactoriesIn a typical factory there will be many people working with heavy materials and generally maintaining a high average air temperature. Most factories occupy a large floor-space with a high ceiling to accomodate machinery, which when combined make it a challenge to regulate the internal air temperature. Using ceiling fans in such a large space with wildly fluctuating temperatures will not provide efficient results. Using high powered floor fans will circulate the air at floor level, reducing the average indoor air temperature for employees.
Rooms With High CeilingEven in a single room with a ceiling above the average height, a single ceiling fan may not be enough to cool the room down. Rather than installing mutiple fans on the ceiling, and making the room feel quite claustrophobic, you could instead use a portable floor fan. This means that the air at floor level is circulated and cooled, but you willl not have mulitple ceiling fans clogging up the ceiling space.
